4. three hours of me and MoMa ps1
On April 10th 2019, I spent 3 hours experiencing the foreground of the MoMa ps1.
illustrated feelings in perceiving the space
documentation of me in the space
This project was inspired by a security guard in the MoMa ps1.
I asked her what she was thinking about when staring
at the artwork for a whole afternoon.
Her response: "I have my own things going on in my mind."
Therefore, on April 10th, 2019, I spent 3 hours alone at the foreground of the MoMA ps1 with a camera and a cellphone. I devoted myself to experience the confines of the square, seclusive, and walled public space. I walked, I laid down, I touched the walls, I felt the ground, I stared at people, people stared back. Boredom made me feel time; I started to daydream.I started to have my own things going on in my mind. The walled space becomes a viewfinder. Senses become heightened by set restrictions.
Everything becomes contained within the empty nothingness.
Later, I translated my experience into a daydream viewfinder that can be used by others.
